These Are Officially the Most Popular Australian Foundations With Beauty Editors

Confession: I live for shopping for local beauty brands. (It's hard not to when there are Australian hero products galore available at every price point.) From Insta-famous companies you might not have heard of, to favourite Aussie drugstore beauty brands, I'm all over it. That said, there is one category I have trouble with, and that's finding a natural-looking foundation. Personally, I don't think the struggle is contained to Australian brands—there's a reason why dozens of celebrities wear the same flattering formula, after all. In an effort to add at least one stellar local base to my makeup bag, I've tried a fair few. Some have been duds (to put it mildly), but others have surpassed my lofty expectations. Ahead, you'll find the best Aussie foundations to try this winter (according to me), with picks across all grades of finish, coverage and wear. Best of all, the majority of my favourites are from wallet-friendly drugstore brands.

Nude By Nature Sheer Glow BB Cream $30

Formulated with soothing aloe vera and deeply moisturising oils and butters, this sheer-finish BB cream is the perfect treat for parched autumn skin.

Mecca Cosmetica In A Great Light Compact SPF 30 $60

Great for touch-ups on the go (or travel in general—it's super handbag-friendly), this luxury cushion compact delivers both a luminous finish, and significant dose of SPF.

Australis Oh 2 Glow Foundation $23

This light-diffusing formula is a champ at blurring blemishes and marks without adding cakey layers of coverage. Even better, vitamin E and aloe vera add extra skin benefits.

Models Prefer Argan Infusion Natural Foundation $17

Models Prefer is Priceline's house brand, and this particular foundation speaks to why the range is worth your attention. Inspired by products double the price, it's made with nourishing argan oil for a soft feel and dewy finish.

Swisse Natural Defence BB Cream SPF 30 $25

More a tinted day cream than a foundation, this offering from Swisse leaves skin hydrated, protected from environmental damage and subtly perfected. It's fairly glowy, so powder over the top if you prefer a matte finish.

Natio Cream to Powder Foundation $22

Surprisingly lightweight for a cream foundation (which can be heavy at times), this formula goes on velvety and dries to a shine-free finish. It's also buildable, giving you the option to buff it out for a sheer look, or layer it up as makeshift concealer.

Innoxa Satin Sheen Natural Finish Makeup $29

Completely fragrance-free, this Innoxa foundation is a good pick for sensitive types. A fantastic everyday base, it's light and creamy (see: easy to blend), and offers natural-looking coverage.

Luma Cosmetics Flawless Concealer $20

Technically a concealer (so not a foundation, per se), we had to include this formula as it's so creamy and buildable you can wear it as both. The radiant finish is a winner on days you haven't had your beauty sleep.
