The #1 Beauty Trend From NYFW Involves Dripping in Crystals

Winters in New York can usually be described by a common set of adjectives: gray, bone-chillingly cold, endless, hopeless…you get the idea. But smack in the middle of NYC’s bleak winter season is a week that’s anything but: New York Fashion Week. We’re currently in the throes of NYFW F/W ’19, and so far, the beauty looks have been a welcome, colorful respite from the dropping temperatures outside. There’s been dyeing and bleaching of hair at Jeremy Scott, pops of pastel nails at Rebecca Minkoff, and the jewels—so many jewels. In fact, bejeweled crystals might just be the number one beauty trend to come out of NYFW, with brands like Christian Siriano, Adeam, and Area fully embracing all things bling in hair, makeup and nails—proof that a statement beauty look can perfectly complement a collection, rather than distract from. Our inner ice queens are on board.

Pearl Accents at Adeam

At Adeam, makeup artist Sada Ito added tiny pearl embellishments on the inside of models' eyes as an accent and finished off with a swipe of Nars Clean Cut Afterglow Lip Balm ($28). Nail artist Mei Kawajiri (you've probably seen her on Instagram @nailsbymei) furthered the pearl theme with beaded pearl manicures.

Jeweled Hardware at Christian Siriano

Erin Parsons bejeweled models' faces with a "veil of crystals" backstage a Christian Siriano and finished with a swipe of Maybelline's Snapscara ($8) in Deja Blue on the lashes.

Justine Marjan straightened models' strands into sleek ponytails using GHD's Platinum + Styler ($250), then added silver chainmail for added glamour.

Crystal Drip at Adeam

Lead hairstylist Jawaraw injected dripping crystal strands into all of the different hair looks backstage at Area, whether they were Bantu knots, braids, or low ponytails. In a word: mesmerizing.
