Beauty from the inside out isn’t a new concept, after all, but drinkable beauty is a fairly new trend that has us more than a little curious. Ahead, you’ll find two “beauty tea” recipes taken from healthy living guru Lorna Jane’s new book, Inspired. Each will beautify you from the inside out with skin-loving ingredients like ginger, cinnamon, vitamin C, and more. Pinkies up!

“Every single ingredient used to make this tea has its own impressive list of how it promotes beauty from the inside out. The ginger, cacao and cinnamon are all extremely rich in antioxidant properties, preventing free radical damage and protecting against aging. In addition, these ingredients improve blood circulation to the skin and scalp, evening out skin tone, smoothing the appearance of cellulite, and even promoting longer, healthier hair. Total Time: 5 minutes
7 cups water
1 teaspoon cacao nibs
1 teaspoon desiccated coconut
1 heaped tablespoon chopped raisins
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon organic dried ginger
1/2 cup raw organic honey
2 tablespoons loose peppermint tea leaves
1 tablespoon organic dried rose petals
1. Place all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to boil.
2. Simmer for 3 minutes.
3. Set aside for 2 minutes to infuse.
4. Strain into a teapot or heatproof jug.
5. Garnish with dried rose petals.
“This is probably one of my favorite teas to have before bed. The warmth of the vanilla tied with the brightness of the lemon and the cooling sensation from the mint just send me (and my skin) to a happy place. The vitamin C from the lemon rejuvenates the skin from within, helping in the production of collagen, which aids in the growth of new cells and blood vessels, giving skin its firmness and strength. The mint and anti-inflammatory properties of the vanilla help to soothe the skin while the vanilla’s powerful antioxidant properties also help to slow the signs of aging.” — Lorna Jane

1 organic lemon
1 vanilla bean, split length-wise, seeds separated
1/2 cup firmly packed fresh mint leaves
1/2 cup honey
7 cups water
2 tablespoons black tea leaves
1. Use a zester or vegetable peeler and a small sharp knife to cut the lemon rind into thin strips.
2. Cut 6 thin slices from the lemon, and cut each in half.
3. Place the lemon rind, lemon, vanilla bean and seeds, mint, honey, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to boil.
4. Simmer for 5 minutes.
5. Add tea leaves, and cover.
6. Set aside for 3 minutes to infuse.
7. Strain into a teapot or heatproof jug.
8. Serve with extra mint leaves and 2 lemon slices if desired.
