Amanda Seyfried might sport smoky eye shadow and glossy lips as Linda Lovelace in next month’s biopic, Lovelace, but in real life Seyfried’s the kind of girl who might remember to put on her all-natural deodorant and is positive her hair looks better a few days post-wash. But don’t be fooled, the face of Cle de Peau knows her way around a red lip and when I ask her if she fills in her brows she responds, “Oh, hell yeah!” So, you know, keep reading.
“I wash my face with Cle de Peau’s Gentle Cleansing Foam ($63),” Seyfried says of her morning routine. “They make a milky one, but I like the foam, and then I use their SPF 23 ($130). It’s the perfect lightweight moisturizer for day.”
“If I have a meeting or an audition, I’ll put on mascara in the morning,” Seyfried says. “I have really straight lashes so I have to curl them first—I use the Shiseido Eyelash Curler ($19) and then Cle de Peau’s The Mascara ($50).”
“I love the Cle sunscreen, but it’s really thick and comes in a tiny bottle, so if I’m going to be out in the sun longer than getting in and out of my car, I’ll grab a spray bottle of Neutrogena Sunscreen ($8) and just spray that stuff on.”
Seyfried uses Bumble and bumble’s Crème de Coco Shampoo ($24) and Conditioner ($24) or whatever her sister leaves in the shower, but she’s not picky—probably because she only washes her hair once or twice a week.
Anyone washing their hair once or twice a week must have a killer dry shampoo. For Seyfried, it’s Kevin Murphy’s Dry Cleansing Spray ($25). “I can’t live without it,” she says. “I run every day and don’t wash my hair for three days, but if I put this in, it still feels clean three days later!”
Seyfried gets audibly excited when I ask her about toothpaste. “Omg,” she says. “I tried using those teeth whitening trays, but I wouldn’t do it because it tastes bad and you have to sit there for an hour! So I just bought Opalescence Whitening Toothpaste ($11) and it’s really great.”
Because Seyfried gets her Cle de Peau from the brand, and not the store, she can’t tell us exactly which Lipstick ($60) she’s obsessed with at the moment, but she is using it to dress up her casual summer look. “There’s a beautiful blood red lipstick that I’ve been keeping in my purse, which is weird because I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but I’m into the lipstick thing.”
(The brand’s R2 is a safe bet.)
“My brows are awful,” Seyfried says. She only started filling them in when Cle de Peau sent over its first box of products. “I’d never had a lot of makeup, but I started playing with all of it and now I do it all the time!” The actress uses the brand’s Eyebrow and Eyeliner Palette ($70) in 2.
"Sometimes I don't even wear deodorant," Seyfried admits. But when she does, it's Weleda's Citrus Deodorant ($14), one of the most effective all-natural deodorants.
“Okay, this is really weird, but my favorite chapstick of all time is Polysporin. It’s purple and it’s Canadian and I have to buy it in bulk on a Canadian website and you should really buy it.” Polysporin Daily Lip Protectant ($4) has SPF 30.
Seyfried wasn’t particularly into fragrance before she started working with Givenchy, but now she says she wears Very Irresistible Sensual Eau de Parfum ($79) almost every night. “I don’t think of myself as very feminine, but this scent makes me feel mature—and smell super fresh and elegant, which I don’t otherwise.”
If Seyfried really wants to step it up, she’ll sweep Cle de Peau’s Luminizing Face Enhancer ($95) across her face for extra radiance. “I don’t take it everywhere with me, but I do brush it across my cheeks if I’m going to dinner,” she says.
