A Switch in Eyeliner

Most makeup looks show eyeliner on the top of the lid, or both top and bottom. A great trend to wear for the holiday season is dramatic liner on the bottom only, like pictured here. This technique switches the modern, predictable makeup looks up a bit and really gives a change for beautiful shadow on the lid to pop through. This is the perfect option when your top lid is more deep set and you want a chance for color to shine through. When re-creating this look, try a soft metallic shadow and be sure to curl your eyelashes before applying mascara.

The Perfect Rosy Flush

One of the most common things that can happen during the winter season is skin becomes dry, patchy and a bit dull due to the cold weather conditions. For those of you who love to wear natural makeup, you certainly can do this any time of year, it's knowing how to add a little extra product in your routine so your skin looks healthy and flushed. Start out with a great moisturizer, like this one from Caudalie, and then apply a sheer highlighter all over the face. Applying highlighter under foundation gives your skin an instant glow, a great way to maintain a fresh, dewy complexion. It's also a quick way to enhance skin in very little time. Finish with cream blush on the cheeks, and be sure to use a hydrating lip color. Fill in and brush through your eyebrows to ensure they are shaped properly and full. Voila! Instant rosy glow.

Not So Average Winged Liner

Winged eyeliner is a classic look that is gorgeous any time of year, but why not make it a little more festive? The best way to do this is to use liquid liners that aren't the standard black color (try plum or deep green) like these ones from Benefit, and apply some eyeshadow on top to add more dimension. Any time you add powder shadow to a cream or liquid, it will really stand out, so you can get creative in choosing eyeshadow in different colors and add some with sparkle, too. Apply shadow in the corner of the lid or on top of the whole liner and be sure to finish with mascara.

Lips to Nails

There's a ton of makeup looks featuring bold lips, reason being they are a fabulous way to make a statement. If you want to wear minimal makeup yet keep your look chic, try pairing your favorite lip with the same color nails. This elevates a natural beauty look, without having to do much work at all. When pairing eye shadow with this, go for a sheer wash of color on the lid like a champagne or matte taupe tone. Contouring your cheeks with bronzer is a great way to add warmth and depth. There's a few things to remember when wearing dark lipstick, be sure to exfoliate your lips to ensure all the dead skin is off, wear a balm at night to condition, and then apply a lip primer before lipstick like this one from Anastasia Beverly Hills to ensure lipstick stays in place all day.

Monochrome Matte

This is a gorgeous makeup look, as it uses similar tones for eyes, cheeks, and lips but doesn't look boring. The eye is created with matte eyeshadow, using a light color on the lid and blending the darker tone in the crease. When wearing matte shadow, be sure to use an eyeshadow primer first, like this one from Urban Decay. This is a fantastic primer that coats the eyelid helping shadow to not crease. The key to applying matte lipstick is to do it in layers and not all at once. Start with a hydrating lip balm, then add the lip color lightly to the lips with my finger or a brush.

Want to really amp up your holiday beauty game? Feel extra festive by adding a fragrant hair mist through your locks before hitting up all the parties, like this one from Miu Miu, you'll look beautiful and smell amazing, too!
