Allow me to let you in on a little secret: We find many cool new beauty brands via our Instagram. And Beauty Bakerie, the company known for its long-lasting liquid lipsticks, just happens to be one of our most recent discoveries. With over 300,000 followers on the picture-sharing platform, a celebrity fan base that includes Beyoncé, and some pretty convincing videos, the brand is obviously doing something right. So we thought it was about time to test out Beauty Bakerie's makeup.
Upon receiving my box of goodies from the brand, I was delighted to find adorably packaged goods with bakery-themed names like the Neopolitan EyesCream Palette and Berried Lip Whip. While I half expected these products to smell just as sweet as their names implied, there was not even the faintest whiff of fake vanilla. After opening, examining, and sniffing every last product, I started my swatching. It didn't take long to see what all the hype was about—each and every formula from the liquid lipstick to the cream eye shadow was vibrant, smooth, and pretty darn durable. To find out just how well Beauty Bakerie's most popular products performed, keep on reading for my tried-and-tested reviews.
With a variety of colors ranging from champagne to plum to a deep dark-brown, this eye shadow palette is nothing if not versatile. Since there are plenty of neutral shades to choose from, I opted to wear a couple of the colors to work, both of which lasted the full 9-to-5 with no creasing whatsoever. While I was a fan of some shades more than others (my favorite color was Chocolate Chip, a pale, shimmery shadow), if you fancy yourself some neutral metallics, I highly recommend this palette.
I love a good lip scrub, and this one does not disappoint. Its super-soft formula buffed my lips to a perfect polish while also dousing them with moisture—a must-use scrub before applying any liquid lippie.
While I was super excited to try the makeup line's most hyped product, I wasn't thrilled about wearing liquid lipstick for a whole day. (I prefer solid lipstick to the liquid variety.) However, as soon as the applicator touched my lips, I could tell that this lippie was going to be different. Not only did the formula paint on perfectly with just one layer, but as soon as it dried, my lips didn't shrivel up like a raisin either. I wouldn't call it hydrating per se, but it was flexible and comfortable to wear for the duration of the day, which is how long it lasted with no smudging, budging, or smearing. I wouldn't say that I am a liquid-lipstick convert just yet, but I will admit that I am very impressed with this lip whip.
While I prefer to use a pencil liner (my brush skills need a bit of help), this inky black eyeliner was rather easy to work onto my lids. Also, it lasted from morning until night, no smudging, which is saying something, as I tend to have watery eyes.
If you're a fan of glittery illuminators, this one is for you. Inside this tiny little ice cream tub lies a heap of rose-gold glitter, which I applied to the tops of my cheekbones, the tip of my nose, and the inner corners of my eyes. While I liked the fanciful look it created around my eyes, it was a bit too much glitter for my liking.
I absolutely love cream eye shadow, so I was very excited to try this smoldering silver shade. Since I'm not a fan of brushes (I prefer on-the-go makeup), I reached into the pot and applied said shadow with my finger. Much to my surprise, it blended out nicely, no brush necessary. Eight hours later, after a day in the hot sun, my shadow was just as pristine as when I applied it. And, get this, there was absolutely zero creasing.
If you plan to buy one of Beauty Bakerie's lippies, you absolutely have to buy these makeup wipes, as the lip color formula will not come off any other way—or at least that was my experience. Unlike other strong makeup removers that smell of astringent and are tough on the skin, these gentle, unscented pads wipe off product no problem. Simply put, these tiny little lippie wipes are a must for any and every liquid lipstick lover.
