If ASOS is backing gloss for autumn/winter 2018, we know it's going to be big. Using makeup to create a dewy complexion on your face, eyes and lips is a good way to make you look healthy and hydrated during the depths of winter. After all, we know that the cold temperatures parch the skin (no matter how much moisture you throw its way).
Here at Byrdie UK, we're a big fan of mussed-up, sheeny eyes with a dewy complexion and lacquered lips. But does the new range from ASOS Design mean we can actually rock the glossy look IRL? We all know that it isn't exactly the most reliable in terms of lasting. Glossy eyes can mingle with mascara and cause it to run, whilst a lacquered lipstick is often a smudgy mess waiting to happen.
So Team Byrdie put our investigative journalism skills to good use (well, good beauty use) and created a look each with the products. Keep scrolling to hear our thoughts on the products and see three ways to wear them.

There's something incredibly striking about a full-on red lip with a pared-back eye. To create the look, I opted for the High Shine Liquid Lipstick in Real Talk (£6), which gives this incredible vinyl effect. It lasted pretty well considering how shiny it was. However, let's face it—a glossy liquid lipstick is never going to have the staying power of something matte and long-wear, so I did need to be on pout patrol.
I applied a little of the golden Liquid Highlighter in Good Lighting (£9) to my cheekbones with my fingers—it's got a grown-up glitter finish that's not too sparkly and gives the complexion a good dose of luminosity. I'm super impressed with it, especially considering the price. Finally, I smudged a little of the Eye Gloss in Indecisive (£7) onto my eyelids using the sponge applicator. This was surprisingly long-wearing. After about eight hours, it did start to drop, which means it should last for a night out (unless you plan to go the distance).

"I find gloss slightly intimidating, but the ASOS products made it easy. The Eye Gloss in Needy (£7) glided on smoothly and left a subtle bronze shimmer on my lids, and it lasted all day long which (in my eyes) deserves a medal. I also applied the Liquid Highlighter in Fire (£9), a dewy bronze highlighter, which is about to become my new favourite go-to. It's silky to the touch and blended easily over my cheek bones leaving a subtle shimmer. And you could totally amp it up by applying more if you wanted to go all-out." — Alyss Bowen, associate social media editor, Byrdie UK

"The Eye Gloss in Enigmatic (£7) had a subtle pink colour payoff but could be built up to give a really glossy high shine. It wasn't overly sticky (like some I've tried) and lasted all day with zero touch-ups. As for the High Shine Liquid Lipstick in Rosy (£6), it was super pigmented (to the point where I was actually kind of confused whether it was going to dry a bit matte), and the more I added, the glossier it became." — Chloe Burcham, contributor, Byrdie UK
