Mariah Carey Swears That This Bathing Trick Is Why Her Skin Is So Soft

Updated 06/07/18

If there's one person we'd like to shadow for a Sunday evening, it's Mariah Carey. We can just picture it now: lavish, long Sunday dinners at a table long enough to seat 76 people but with Queen Mariah at the head, obviously. Long romantic walks around the grounds, because yes, she has acres. A 26-step skincare routine, all carried out by her own personal dermatologist and a bath filled with cold milk—because apparently, that's how she bathes.

are milk baths good for you: Mariah Carey at Hand and Footprint Ceremony

In a candid interview with The Guardian, Mariah Carey opened up about her bathing habits (among other things) and put an end to the rumour that she only bathes in French mineral water—as if that wasn't boujie enough. Instead, she stated "No, I bathe in milk…Cold milk."

Weird, we know, but Carey might actually be onto something. Milk contains healthy fats and proteins and is high in vitamins and minerals that nourish the skin, but its real hero component is lactic acid. A strong alpha hydroxy acid, lactic acid will gently exfoliate your skin. Hence you'll find it in Elemis's new Dynamic Resurfacing Pads ($59), so why not bathe in it?

Now if you need us, we'll be bathing in milk à la Mariah, but if you're still not keen, the below luxe bath products will make for a bath time just as decadent as Mariah's.
