How much do we love Anna Kendrick? Let us count the ways. There’s her wonderfully-irreverent Twitter, her resume of films that never seem to get old (Pitch Perfect, Drinking Buddies, The Twilight Saga), and now she’s teamed up with Burt’s Bees and Lipstick Angels to help hospitalized women feel more beautiful.
“I can’t imagine how challenging it is to be in the hospital,” Kendrick told us. “I don’t even feel like a human being until I’ve had a cup of coffee and put on some eyeliner in the morning.” To help remedy that challenge, Burt's Bees and the emerging non-profit Lipstick Angels are partenering with the actress to give free personalized beauty services and makeup to recovering women. “I had a smile on my face the entire day,” the actress says about a recent day of makeovers at City of Hope outside Los Angeles. “It’s such a sweet charity.”
To kick off their Hive with a Heart Campaign, Burt’s Bees will donate two lip products to hospitalized women when you buy two anytime before June 30. To help spread the word, we chatted with Kendrick about all things beauty.

When asked about her skincare routine, Kendrick is quick to reply. “I’ve been trying to get into big girl products lately,” says the 28 year old. The first addition to her new grown-up routine? AKMD Balancing Foaming Cleanser ($36). “Not many people have heard of this brand; you have to order it online,” she says. “It’s great.”
“Up until recently, I was using an oil-free moisturizer, and that’s pretty much it,” Kendrick told us. “I just bought some serum from La Mer, because I thought that’s what a grown-up should have. Then there’s this Sisley detoxing night cream I’ve been using—it keeps my face really clear.”
Sisley’s Botanical D-Tox Detoxifying Night Treatment ($240) and La Mer The Lifting Intensifier ($165), above.
“Caudalie has this oil that smells so amazing,” Kendrick says about the brand’s Divine Oil ($49). “I put it in my hair, and then whatever’s left I rub on my shoulders for a nice, dewy look that I always get compliments on.”
“I love wearing winged-out eyeliner on the red carpet because it’s something I can’t really do on myself,” Kendrick says. “In general, I put all my faith in my artists to do what they think is best. There’s a lot of trust there.”
In Kendrick’s suitcase you’ll find Shu Uemura’s Art of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo ($55) and the Full Shimmer Illuminating Conditioner ($58). “I never leave home without it,” she says. “I can’t do hotel shampoo and conditioner.”
The secret to Kendrick’s healthy hair? “I just started using Oribe’s Masque for Beautiful Color ($59),” she says. “Even though I don’t have color on my hair right now, it’s super moisturizing.”
What does Kendrick stock up on the drugstore? “Intuition razors,” she told us. “They’re a total game changer.”
Try Schick Intuition Plus Renewing Moisture Pomegranate Razor ($13).
“I have been trying to get more into lip color lately,” Kendrick says. “I’ve been experimenting with bold colors.”
Kendrick’s involvement with Burt’s Bees was a natural one. “I stockpile every single color of the Tinted Lip Balm ($7),” she told us. “Even the discontinued ones, like Tigerlily Hibiscus.” Her current favorite? “I can’t leave home without Sweet Violet; it looks like a deep shade but it’s light and really beautiful.”
Other essentials she keeps on hand include Suqqu’s Eyebrow Liquid Pen ($34). “It’s a Japanese liquid pencil that I can only find at Selfridge’s in London,” she says. “I stock up.”
Can’t find the perfect foundation? You’re not alone. “Man, I have been on the hunt for the perfect foundation for a while now,” Kendrick told us. “I am still looking!” Her favorite blush is a little easier: Tarte’s Cheek Stain ($30). “I wear it every day.”
Kendrick always looks amazing on the red carpet, but which recent look is her favorite? “The makeup I wore to this Miu Miu party was so perfect,” she says. “It just felt like me.”
In Kendrick’s makeup bag you’ll find a wardrobe of mascara. “CoverGirl’s Clump Crusher in the green tube? That stuff is perfection,” she says. “And I’ve also been using this mascara from Clinique with a really skinny brush, it’s amazing because it doesn’t get clumpy at all.” Try CoverGirl’s LashBlast Clump Crusher Mascara ($7) and Clinique’s Lash Power Mascara ($16).
Along with lipstick, Kendrick has been experimenting with eyeliners as of late. “I have so many kinds, it’s insane,” she says. “I have been having fun playing with colors lately; M.A.C. makes really great vibrant shades.”
Try the brand’s Pro Longwear Eye Liner ($20).
“I’ve been changing my nail polish almost daily lately,” Kendrick says. “Layering different colors and glitters.” Her favorite new discovery is Butter London Nail Lacquer ($15) in Anorak. “It has this black and white glitter that’s really punk rock.”
