In honour of Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power’s book, The Career Code: Must-Know Rules for a Strategic, Stylish, and Self-Made Career ($20), we’re kicking off an interview series featuring 17 questions (in honour of the book’s 17 chapters) about the work lives of the most inspirational female leaders in the beauty industry.
Compressing Alli Webb's bio into one easily-digested paragraph is no easy feat, but I'll give it a go anyway. From humble beginnings as a hair stylist, Webb had a (quite literally) million dollar idea to open a salon that specialised in one thing: Blowouts. Thus, Drybar was born. Fast forward to today, and Drybar is found in almost 100 locations across the world (and growing), not to mention, it also boasts an incredible range of at-home products. The Drybars themselves are set up like—you guessed it—bars, with blow out styles options like Mai Tai (beachy waves) and Cosmo (loose curls) on the menu.
While Drybar salons aren't available in Australia just yet (but we're crossing our fingers), the Drybar product range just launched into Sephora Australia, and it's epic. We caught up with Webb while she was in Australia for the launch, and she was kind enough to share her best career tips. Take it from us when we say that, hair empire aside, Webb has some sage advice that will inspire not only your career goals, but your life in general.

"Well, that depends on the day. I’m usually running between press appointments, product meetings and phone calls—so many phone calls! I wear many hats, but luckily we have an incredible team of over 80 people at HQ and over 3000 stylists in our shops who really keep the trains running every day. In addition to press and founder responsibilities, my main area of focus ranges from product development, to overseeing the training curriculum of Drybar stylists and customer service in stores."
"It never shuts off, even on vacation. But I would not trade a second of it! My job is beyond rewarding and fulfilling. Every day I receive so many messages and emails, even people that stop me in the street to tell me how Drybar has changed and significantly impacted their life—it’s so amazing and humbling. We’ve also just launched our products and tools in Australia at Sephora, and I’m so excited to see where this takes us next. Australia is such a great place, and I can’t wait to see how women react to Drybar. With Drybar, we are launching some really fun new tools and products, plus working on some fun collabs. We are about to reach 100 stores. There is a lot going on, and I couldn’t be more excited."
