Rejuvenating one’s skin might feel like an arduous task when you don’t know where to start, yet everyone needs a little restorative treatment now and again to feel and look their best. While several creams and serums tout anti-aging miracles, which ones can we really trust to get the job done without adding too many steps to our daily skincare routines?

I put Alastin Skincare’s Restorative Skin Complex to the test to see if it really held up to its promise of rejuvenation, and the results were the best I've seen in quite some time.

Keep reading for my honest thoughts.

About The Brand: Founded in 2016, Alastin Skincare provides clinically tested products for at-home use. Many are also specially designed to treat skin after cosmetic procedures.

About My Skin: Combination, sensitive

I have combination and sensitive skin with type 1 rosacea, and I am always concerned about reversing aging along with keeping the tone and texture of my skin even. I’ve had texture in the past and normally address it with chemical exfoliants and retinol.

I don’t like anything that feels too heavy on the skin, so I tend to wear products that absorb well. I love a dewy complexion and never turn down a product that is going to help build collagen, repair surface damage, and prevent the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. I also want my skin to look as even as possible. Some moisturizers and serums I reach for often are Skinceuticals Triple Lipid Restore Cream, Tatcha The Water Cream, and Biologique Recherche Placenta Cream.

How to Apply: Two pumps, tap your fingers

You will want to apply this product on clean skin, ideally right after cleansing. The instructions call for two pumps, and that should be more than enough to cover your face and neck. The consistency is on the richer side and spreads well, so you don’t want to over-apply as you might end up wasting excess product.

I pumped the bottle twice, and then lightly tapped the skin complex into my face using my fingers, gently massaging it in as I made sure to cover each area.

The Results: Like a professional facial

The first thing I noticed after using this product was how my skin instantly felt dewy and hydrated. The texture of this product is on the thicker side, so a little bit truly goes a long way. Even though I don’t prefer products on the heavier side, this felt very comfortable while applying and after.

My skin absorbed the product well, yet it took a bit longer compared to some other serums and creams I’ve used in the past. Since I use chemical exfoliants and retinol each week, I truly loved how nourishing this product was after using them and how it protected my skin from any irritation as well.

Testing Insight

After using this at night, I’d awake each morning looking as if I’d had a facial—my skin was plump, hydrated, and dewy ,which is everything I could ask for after a night’s sleep.

Something else I found to love about this product is there is no fragrance, making it even more wearable for anyone who might be sensitive or react to certain smells. To say that this product restores one’s skin is really an understatement. I also love how it works well under makeup and doesn't pill. It's ideal for anyone wanting to give attention to dehydrated skin that needs a boost.

The Value: Pricey, but worth it

This product is absolutely expensive and might not fit in everyone’s budget, yet because it's so moisturizing and goes quite a long way, it’s absolutely a product to invest in if you want to address several skincare concerns at once. Each pump dispenses a small amount that's enough to be effective yet keep product waste at a minimum when using it day and night.
