And just like that…it’s summer? It feels like it was only last week that I was layering a jacket over a long-sleeved shirt and still feeling cold (because it was!). But it now feels like the warm weather is here to stay, which means some of us need a little wardrobe and beauty refresh. The Byrdie team has uncovered some new favorites for the summer season at Macy’s, from on-trend jelly sandals to necessary staples like SPF. Below, check out we’re eyeing.

COACH Leather Chaise Crossbody
I’m big on crossbody bags that store all of my essentials while upgrading my outfit. This Coach leather bag is perfect for adding a pop of color to any look, from a t-shirt and jeans to a dress and sandals. Side note: can we get a round of applause for Coach’s new styles? Byrdie editors can’t get enough of this brand for chic, high-quality handbags at a reasonable price.
MANGO Women's Chest-Pocket Shirt
Warm weather and the return to office means adding breezy tops to my wardrobe. I love this classic chest-pocket shirt that can go with anything from denim, shorts, and statement skirts. Choose the white color for a staple that can make just about any outfit look put-together, or opt for the bold green or orange colorways to make a statement, while still keeping it classy.

Nina Women's Beaded Patterned Slim Frame Bag
I’m always on the hunt for a bag that evokes the southern Florida retirement spirit of Sophia Petrillo. Raffia is currently trending, but I’m a sucker for a good beaded bag, which brings me to Nina’s Beaded Patterned Slim Frame Bag. The gold beads give the illusion of wicker, but with an added touch of ‘80s glam. While Sophia never switched out her bag, I like to imagine that this would be her choice for a going-out moment.
Sam Edelman Women's Kia Strappy Dress Sandals
Now that summer is here, I’ve quickly realized my selection of shoes that aren’t slides or boots is slim. I love the rounded block heel of these, and the pink is a fun touch of color for the warmer months.*
*Psst...trend alert! Scroll for another editor-favorite pink sandal.
MANGO Women's Check Tweed Skirt
I’ve had this check tweed skirt (and the matching jacket) in two open tabs on my computer for actual months. As I head back into the office (and also just…go outside) now, sets are the easiest way for me to get dressed and feel put together and presentable. This one, to me, is perfect. The light tweed makes it formal enough for a dinner party or a day at the office, while the denim details add that needed bit of comfort and style. You’re not doing too much, but just enough.
COACH Women's Scarlett Block-Heel Signature Jelly Sandals
Jelly sandals are back. If you lived through the trend the first time around, you’ll recall that they’re not exactly the most practical. They’re generally uncomfortable, and your feet kind of just end up sitting in pools of their own sweat. These Block Heel Jelly Sandals are the perfect compromise: An easy slide with a bit of lift. Catch me wearing these with that Mango set at least once a week this summer.

Gucci Bloom Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.3 oz.
I love to tie scents to specific memories and times of the year, and this is my absolute favorite fragrance to pull down from my collection each spring and summer. The floral notes are perfectly balanced (no overbearing, dated, overly perfumey smell here). Each year when I spritz it for the first time, I just can't help but think of sunshine and fields of blooms. It brings me so much joy!
Clinique Sun SPF 45 Targeted Protection Stick, 0.21 oz.
Daily SPF is finally becoming a staple in most people's morning skincare routines, but when it comes to actually re-applying throughout the day... not so much. Re-applying a liquid sunscreen over your makeup is definitely not ideal, but this solid sunscreen stick has changed the game for me. It's so easy to glide this over my makeup without my blush and bronzer bleeding together, and it leaves behind a nice, glowy sheen. It's perfect for protecting often overlooked areas like lids and lips.
Steve Madden Women's Rianna Strappy Block-Heel Sandals
My tolerance for discomfort is extremely low, but I also love the way a nice heel can elevate an otherwise boring outfit. These have been the perfect marriage of both for me—the low, block-shaped heel is easy to walk in and the buckle strap around the ankle gives you way more stability than you would think. Meanwhile, the strappy design and baby pink hue make even jeans and a plain white t-shirt feel effortless and intentional. Macy’s has a full stock of Steve Madden shoes, so if these aren’t your speed, there are plenty of other styles to choose from.
