12 Backstage Beauty Looks at NYFW That Left Us Speechless

To be honest, we have a love/hate relationship with going backstage. On one hand, it can be a chaotic mess—people stepping over each other in cramped quarters while trying to do their respective jobs is not a glamorous scene. On the other, we get an exclusive look into how makeup, hair, and nail looks are made before the show starts, and the end result is not only obviously stunning, but it reminds us why we love what we do.

This season, there were plenty of beauty looks to obsess over. From elevated smoky eye looks to hair accessories making a huge comeback, we've rounded up the backstage beauty looks at NYFW fall 2018. Scroll down to see.

Using jewels on the lids, as seen here at Kate Spade, is a simple yet effective way to make a statement.

Jeremy Scott never disappoints in giving us a really fun beauty look. Models wore bright neon wigs and space-themed liner with a bold lip.

We're getting serious Marie Antionette vibes with this beehive hair look backstage at Alice and Olivia, created by lead hairstylist and TRESemmé global artist Justine Marjan.

On the other side of the bold spectrum, other models at Alice and Olivia wore highly pigmented black shadow with glitter on top for a dramatic smoky eye.

This multidimensional lip seen at Self-Portrait brings together two unexpected colors for a striking lip look.

We love the gold flakes across the eyelids at Ulla Johnson. It makes for a more interesting gold shimmer look when you want to take it to the next level.

The Black Panther presentation brought the world of Wakanda to New York. Makeup represented strong and fierce warriors, and the hair embraced every model's natural hair. This elevated ponytail has a beautiful braided detail that we just absolutely love.

As the show that coined what is arguably one of the biggest beauty terms out there, Tom Ford updated the smoky eye by giving a round almond shape to it and packing shimmer on top. We also still can't get over that headband.

Hallie Gould

We love the romantic sentiment this braided updo gives, but we're more in love with the fact that it looks like a beautiful tangeled mess that's tough and sweet at the same time.

Brandon Maxwell proving that red lips and long lashes will always remain a classic that is never boring.

At Cushnie et Ochs, you get a classic bold red lip with the prettiest shimmer eye shadow on the lids. But we also found one of our favorite beauty hacks: using a lip palette as a shadow to make it a multitasking product.

We love the color-blocking eye look seen here at Tibi. The vibrant contrasting colors make for a dynamic beauty look.
