We Need to Talk About Bella Hadid's Hair at the CFDA Awards

The CFDA Awards might be all about fashion, but this year's event was a big night for beauty. For one thing, the legendary Pat McGrath was the first makeup artist to ever receive the Founders Awards, an honor reserved for the most respected names in the industry. For another, the red carpet beauty was some of the best we've seen this year.

One of our favorite looks of the evening came courtesy of Bella Hadid, who stepped out in a striking blunt bob with bangs—we've since confirmed that it was a clip-in fringe, but if you're taking suggestions, Bella, maybe make it permanent? But the model was hardly the only one to opt for something so striking. Sultry eye makeup, strategically placed glitter, and vampy lips all populated the red carpet, providing plenty of inspiration for your next big night out.

Hadid's retro-inspired hair just works—and the glossy finish brings the entire look together. Jen Atkin used Ouai's Finishing Crème ($24) to get that shine.

Smalls looked positively sultry with her voluminous curls, smoky eye, and brown-tinged lip.

Hosk opted for a more romantic ensemble, pairing a red lip with soft eye makeup.

In case you were wondering, this is what sophisticated shimmer looks like. (And we especially love the shock of gold on Chopra's lower lash line.) Makeup artist Yumi Mori used her finger to dab on Chantecaille Liquid Lumière Highlighting Fluid in Brilliance ($41) to get that gilded look.

Kate Bosworth

Inspired by the '70s feel of Bosworth's dress, makeup artist Hung Vanngo opted for a brown and rust makeup palette. As for the actress's luminous skin, Vanngo prepped it with Ole Henriksen's editor-loved Truth Serum ($48) as well as the Truth Advanced Moisturizing Crème ($48).

Are you sensing a few themes here (namely: gilded '70s throwbacks)? We love how the shimmery tones in Nyong'o's makeup complement the sheen of her gown.

While there's been a lot of talk about makeup, Martha Hunt opted for statement-making hair instead.

On the flip side, we're also loving Aldridge's luminous simplicity—from her sleek hair to her dewy, bare skin.
