I have a not so dirty secret. I love to wash my hair. I know, I know: it’s so much better for your hair to take a break from the washing, but skipping it just isn’t as satisfying as when I suds up. I have been trying to wash my hair every other day for the sake of my hair’s health, but with summer comes new washing challenges. Workouts are hotter, chlorine needs to be removed, and real beach waves are only cute until they start to feel dirty. Plus, a Mason Pearson hairbrush and dry shampoo can only get you so far. In short: I need to wash while doing as little damage as possible. I guess you could say I want to have my cake and eat it too.
I gave Wen’s Summer Honey Peach Cleansing Conditioner ($40) a try, as it is extremely gentle and non-drying, and claims to reduce the need for washes over time. It’s actually a shampoo and conditioner all in one, plus you can add a little to the ends of your hair after your shower as a leave-in conditioner. It’s perfect for travel or when you want to rinse off at the pool.
This is not your average shampoo-conditioner combo! My hair looked the same as when I use two separate products, and took half the time to style. The peach scent is new for summer—and it smells so good, I’ll be hoarding bottles to use the rest of the year. My final verdict: this one’s a keeper.
