Watch: Our Editorial Director Tries the New St. Tropez Self-Tanning Sheet Mask
Looking like a sun-kissed Brazilian goddess falls fairly low on my list of beauty goals, mostly because I’m naturally fair and can’t be bothered with most self-tanning products (basking in the sun for a natural tan is out of the question because hello, sun damage, people).
But when St. Tropez released a brand-new product—a sheet mask you use for five to 10 minutes that gradually tans you over the span of the next few hours—I was intrigued. I’m a sucker for sheet masks, and the claim seemed almost too good to be true. No mousse, mitt, or wipe required—just five minutes of my time. Plus, the mask boasts a number of skin-boosting ingredients like hyaluronic acid, so I’d essentially be killing two birds with one stone: plumping up my skin while simultaneously helping it look more akin to caramel rather than the inside of a banana peel.
I got my hands on one of the limited samples and of course, tested it out immediately. The two biggest things I learned? Remember to wash your hands after applying the mask (rookie mistake, I know) and definitely make sure to blend the serum from the sheet mask onto your eyelids. Otherwise, you’ll have a lovely sun-kissed glow but also look like you’ve tried to do a cut crease with white eye shadow. Not exactly the most flattering look.
