Reviewed: Sonya Dakar Nano Peel

As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know—tough life). “Reviewed” is a new series where we report on some of the best products we’ve tried. Whether it’s a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day, or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you’ll find all of our favorites in this column. Enjoy!

Confession: I’ve never been that big of a fan of peels. (Gasp!) I’ve tried all of the ones most people rave about, but I’ve never really been that impressed. Most leave my skin looking red and feeling a little raw and just plain irritated. But there’s not a skin expert out there who won’t sing the praises of peels, so I’ve continued to search for my perfect peel. Enter: Sonya Dakar’s Nano Peel ($155). It’s an exfoliating treatment that utilizes professional-grade lactic and phytic acids (the same ones Dakar uses in her clinic) at levels safe for at-home use. Unlike the other peels I’ve tried, this one didn’t tingle (or burn, like some have). In fact, it actually feels quite nice when you put it on. Perhaps that’s because the exfoliating acids are balanced by nourishing resveratrol and rejuvenating green apple stem cell complex. But rinsing it off feels even better. Immediately my skin feels smoother and looks brighter and more luminous—a welcome departure from the redness I’ve come to expect from peels.
