We're just going to put it out there: Fern is about to make its way into your skincare regimen. Dr. Timm Golueke, the mastermind behind the movement, launched Royal Fern last year, and the star of the skincare range is fern—the plant. So how did fern even meet skincare (or vice versa)?

Dr. Golueke set out to develop a skincare line at the request of his patients from all over the world. He wanted it all: a tightening, firming, moisturizing, antioxidant, sun-damage-reversing, skin-brightening range. A tall order, indeed, but nothing an anti-aging expert like Dr. Golueke couldn't execute. While researching ingredients for his soon-to-be conceptualized line, he found many studies that backed up fern as being a stellar anti-ager that had been particularly helpful for sun-damaged skin. Dr. Golueke decided that he wanted to find other plants that would work together with the mighty fern to boost its strength, and from that came a biological complex of actives that have a natural protection against UV rays, which he called the Royal Fern Complex.

The brilliant complex Dr. Golueke created works by reflecting UV and infrared rays and repairing any existing damage. Think of it as a skincare trifecta. Hey, there's a reason fern has been around for 400 million years and has adapted from growing in the ocean to growing on land, so we may as well take advantage of their resilient properties. The Royal Fern Complex has it all: It's anti-inflammatory, works as an antioxidant, boosts the regenerating effects of collagen and elastin, and has a Mineral Oxide Complex that further protects against UV rays.

Dr. Golueke spent four years developing the line, which made its debut in 2015 and is currently made up of four products.  Along with the Royal Fern Complex, the Phytoactive Anti-Aging Cream ($250), Eye Cream ($190), and Serum ($295) are also formulated with skincare favorites like hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E, jojoba oil, and green tea extract. The best part is that all of the actives are released over the course of 12 hours so that skin gets a full dose of anti-aging benefits, sun protection, and moisture. So like we mentioned before, we have a feeling fern is about to make its way from land to bathrooms and vanities everywhere.
