What was the most memorable part of being the ambassador for the Inspired series?
My favorite part was meeting the five influencers of the series. It was a humbling yet incredibly inspirational experience to learn about their amazing stories. They are all so passionate, so courageous, and so down-to-earth. By meeting these remarkable women, you instantly realize it really is true—one person can make a difference in the world. These women are examples of what one person can do if they let their inspiration take hold.
That’s pretty amazing. What drew you to the project initially?
I was really excited to join Moroccanoil on a journey to celebrate the strength in every woman. I’m honored to be a part of a campaign that highlights women who are doing such incredible things to make a difference in the world around them. Through Inspired By Women™, we are hoping to inspire in all women the confidence to carve their own unique life path, follow their heart, and pursue their dreams. Inspiration is what starts the journey to a truly meaningful life.
What was it like working with a cult favorite brand like Moroccanoil?
I admire the fact that Moroccanoil is a brand that not only creates fantastic beauty products that make women look and feel amazing, but also celebrates and empowers women, so women can feel beautiful inside and out! I love that all of their beauty products have been inspired by women and have a special story behind them.
We can’t let you go without asking a beauty-related question. How do you keep your hair looking so good between shoots and appearances?
After a long flight, I love to refresh my hair with the Moroccanoil Treatment ($43). I like to work it through my hair and let it do its magic. It makes my hair instantly more manageable—and the scent is heavenly!
What was it like directing the Inspired series? How did you and Rosie work together?
Directing the Inspired series for Moroccanoil was such a thrilling and profound experience. The courage, ingenuity, and dedication of these women have been a privilege to witness. Inspiration is a priceless commodity, something rare and beautiful that touches our hearts and moves us to action. My hope is that by learning about the stories of these astonishing women, others will feel inspired and moved to action.
The first thing you notice about Rosie is her warmth. Actually, that’s the second thing. The first thing you notice is her stunning beauty. Not only is she beautiful inside and out, she’s also a total hoot. She has a great sense of humor and a lightheartedness about her that is refreshing and genuine.
How did your experiences as an actress affect how you chose to direct the series?
As an actress, you are used to connecting to your partner in the scene emotionally, and even though I was behind the camera, I felt very connected to the individuals I was filming. Similar to when you are performing in a scene, you want your scene partner to feel safe and open up; as a director, I wanted to create an environment for the subjects of the films to feel comfortable and feel that they could be vulnerable. If they started going into an emotional place, I wanted them to feel like I was there to catch them, and that they were in a protective environment.
Do you have any makeup tips for our redheaded readers?
I’ve found that having red hair is already a bit of a statement, so whenever I do my makeup, I try to keep the color palette for my eyes and skin pretty neutral. I do not use blue eye shadows; otherwise, I can look like a clown! However, I do find that a bold lip is nice because it balances my face, or else I can look too barefaced and pale in comparison to my hair color. I have a few massive freckles on my eyelids that I try to cover; otherwise, people come up to me telling me that I have mascara on my lids! I'm not sure if there are any other redheads out there who can relate, but the eyelid freckles sometimes are super visible.
