Reviewed: Redken Wind Blown 05 Dry Finishing Spray

As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know—tough life). “Reviewed” is a new series where we report on some of the best products we’ve tried. Whether it’s a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day, or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you’ll find all of our favorites in this column. Enjoy!

Hair is not my strong suit. I can apply eyeliner in my sleep, paint my nails like a pro, and create a skincare regimen any derm would be proud of, but when it comes to hair, my skills are limited. Most days, the extent of my styling consists of spraying some product and maybe running a brush through my mane. Which is why I’ll try anything that comes in an aerosol can. Generally, texturizing spray is my weakness, but Redken’s Wind Blown 05 Finishing Spray ($22) has risen to the front of my hair product pack. Full disclosure: the concept of “finishing spray” has always evaded me, but like I said, I’m forever willing to try. From what I’ve gleaned, finishing spray is a non-sticky version of texturizing spray that’s also awesome for building volume. This mist adds instant body with zero residue. You can just target your roots, or spray it all over (like I do) for slightly disheveled texture. It’s incredibly lightweight—as in, literally weightless—which makes its impressive hold factor all the more impressive. My style looks just as good at 5 p.m. as it did eight hours earlier. And, I happen to think I get the best results after I’ve slept on my hair—a happy bonus for a hairstyling minimalist like myself.
