We were already smitten with Rachel McAdams’ spring look--messy topknot, fuchsia lips--on the red carpet at last week’s premiere of To the Wonder. But then we saw her manicure: a retro nude with perfectly painted white half-moons at the base of each nail. Turns out they weren’t painted.

“We looked at Rachel’s wardrobe for the day ahead; there wouldn’t be time for a nail change, but she still wanted something adventurous,” says manicurist Jenna Hipp. The actress fell for Hipp’s NCLA Nude Moon Nail Wraps ($16) and Hipp sealed them with two coats of the brand’s Gloss It Top Coat ($11) for shine. “If you apply them properly, they’ll easily last two weeks or longer,” Hipp says.

As for those lips, makeup artist Kayleen McAdams (yes, Rachel’s sister) mixed Bite Beauty’s Matte Creme Lipstick ($24) in Pastille Lavender and Pastille Violet.
