As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know—tough life). “Reviewed” is a new series where we report on some of the best products we’ve tried. Whether it’s a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day, or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you’ll find all of our favorites in this column. Enjoy!

For the most part, skincare routines are pretty clinical. Washing your face, applying night cream...they're the ho-hum things we do to take care of ourselves, like brushing our teeth. How often do you actually get jazzed to apply a product? Which is why when I find something that's as effective as it is utterly delightful to experience and apply, I, for one, am hooked.

The blueberry scrub mask ($55), by an indie little line out of California called Protective Nourishment, is the kind of product that makes you look forward to going home on a Friday night and using it. The packaging is no-nonsense, yet feels luxurious in its mom-and-pop pharmacy shop kind of uniqueness. The consistency is a rich, pudding-like texture—it's basically like blueberry pie for your face, and smells like it, too.

You buff it on the skin for 15 seconds; then let it sit for two minutes. Aside from being thoroughly enjoyable to use, the cornmeal and lactic acid in the formula exfoliate skin for an instantly smoother, softer surface, and a brighter appearance for days afterward.

Once it's been opened, you keep the tub in the fridge. Something about the cute little pot of blueberry goodness sitting on the shelf in there makes me want to come back and use it constantly. It takes me back to the days of middle school when I would act out spa fantasies with my friends, applying masks and placing cucumbers over our eyes. As a grown-up, it's nice to have something to makes me want to carve out the time to light a candle, and treat my skin.
