Sleep Better Tonight With the Ancient Remedy Lindsay Ellingson Loves

When Salma Hayek revealed that the secret to her flawless, ageless skin was tepezcohuite, she opened our eyes to seriously game-changing product we never knew existed. Ellingson snapped a quick photo of her shower, calling out that blue tub with the yellow label that reads “mustard bath.” Yes, mustard… and bath. She says she uses the soak at night to detox, purify, and prep for a restful night’s sleep. According to Ellingson, if you try it, “You’ll sleep like a baby and wake up as fresh as a daisy!” So, basically, count us in.

So, it makes sense that his claim-to-fame product (if you will) is something you soak in.
Back to the real question: mustard? To which we can now respond yes, mustard! Mustard has been used for over 3000 years—dating back to the ancient Greeks, Romans, and the Ayurvedic tradition of India—as a healing treatment for entire range of ailments. The medicinal properties are beneficial to everything from migraines to various skin disorders. Athletes swear by it for muscle and joint stress and even injuries. Feel a cold coming on? Mustard baths relieve congestion and ease sinus pain. Mustard is also very calming and has been known to reduce stress, which is why many people use it to promote healthy sleeping patterns.
When combined with warm water, mustard seed powder stimulates the sweat glands, opening your pores to help your body rid itself of toxins and impurities. Combined with the soothing essential oils, it’s the perfect pre-bedtime treat. Just add a 2/3 cup scoop to bath and soak for 10 to 30 minutes while you unwind.
