We Asked Models What They Did the Night Before They Walked in a NYFW Show
New York Fashion Week kicked off in full swing last week and was met with bustling backstages, celebrity sightings, several Hadid sister struts down the runway, crazy after-parties, and enviable street style. And as chaotic as it is for us in the media trying to snap every look and record the tips and tricks of every makeup artist or hairstylist, we can only imagine how stressful and nerve-wracking it is for the models.
That's why we decided this season, we'd ask them what their nighttime rituals look like. Do they meditate? Do they sneak in a quick yoga session? Do they just throw on a face mask and chill? (Spoiler: mostly, yes.) While there isn't a huge secret to keeping their composure come showtime, these eight models did give us some great product recommendations to get your skin catwalk-ready (even if you're just walking to work). Below, read on for their best pre-bedtime tips.
Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser ($7)
“I was at work until 10 p.m. last night, but I usually eat dinner at 6:30 p.m., and I usually wash my face around bedtime, and then I go to bed at 10 p.m. to make sure I get beauty sleep. I use Cetaphil because I have sensitive skin and it doesn't get rid of the oil on my face." — Anna Hagood
Weleda Iris Hydrating Facial Lotion ($21)
"I cleaned my face and put on some moisturizer… and that’s it. I don’t really do much to my face. I just relax. I always use a natural one without chemicals and everything—it’s from Weleda. It’s the Iris one. I make a cup of tea and watch some Netflix or chat with my roommate about the day." — Femke Huijze
"Probably just shower, wash off the [makeup from] the shows from that day, then I typically just use moisturizer to keep my face in check. Nothing fancy, just from a drugstore. I can't remember the name of it." — Skylar Tartz
The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil ($10)
"I do some kind of mud mask—it’s really good to clear your skin up. I love essential oils and I love to massage them into my face. It’s really good for circulation. And you have radiance after, you know? My favorite is rosehip oil—it also smells really nice and you can use it as a perfume as well." — Sanna Backstrom
