Watch: Our Senior Editor Tries the New Milk Makeup Blurring Foundation

Hallie Gould

As someone who's found myself practically mesmerized by both the products (and branding) of Milk Makeup—they products are colorful and effective, and the brand acknowledges beauty outside of the traditional confines—I get pretty excited when a new product launches. Especially, in this case, when it's a foundation.

I fancy myself someone with pretty good skin, but I also appreciate a face product that helps me out when I want it to. Enter Milk Makeup's Blur Liquid Matte Foundation ($40), an oil-free, silicone-free formula meant to leave "a smooth matte finish that looks and feels as light as air." Or so it says on the website.

Instead of trying it out alone in my bathroom, I thought it might be fun to give it go for the first time on camera. A few thoughts: a little bit goes a long way. As you can probably tell while I apply it, I used far too much product (and it wasn't exactly a color match, though I do like to go a bit warmer than my skin tone). Since the foundation is already full-coverage, you only need a tiny dot to treat your entire face, though, it does feel quite light.

Also, the Dab + Blend Applicator ($14) makes things a bit more complicated if you're not used to it. Had I been using my regular sponge, I think the application might have gone more smoothly and I wouldn't have loaded up my face with so much product. I have to admit, though, for a matte foundation, this one is super hydrating, airy, a bit glowy, and absolutely worth a try.
