Lucy Hale Pairs Coral Lip Gloss With a Beachy Bronze Glow

by Erin Jahns

Lipstick during the summer can be a tricky affair. After all, the majority of us don’t want to look like we’re wearing makeup while out in the sun. The result can often be clownish, and nothing’s worse than too-bold lipstick that ends up melted and faded in the summer heat.

So, who better to serve up some major summer beauty inspo than our celebrity contributing editor, Lucy Hale? While celebrating her birthday last Sunday at Children Mending Hearts seventh annual Empathy Rocks Fundraiser, the stunning actress/songstress nailed a beachy summer makeup look that we plan to copy ASAP: a vibrant (yet understated) coral lip, complemented by a bright and glowing complexion. Celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan takes us through the process.

“To create a light touch of coverage, I began by buffing a light veil of Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Fluid Foundation ($125) on Lucy’s skin,” Deenihan says. “Then, I set the foundation with Chanel’s Natural Finish Loose Powder ($52).” For a touch of sun-kissed color, Deenihan swept Mark.’s Buenos Aires Caliente Glow Blush + Bronzer Compact ($16) across the actress’s cheeks. Super-convenient, the compact’s rose-hued blush can be applied to the cheek’s apples, while the bronzer can be used to contour and define cheekbones. And for the final touch? That would be Chanel’s Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer Lip Gloss ($30) in Amour, a playful coral-pink shade. Perfection!
