My Summer Nighttime Routine, by Lindsay Ellingson
While you might know me primarily as a model and entrepreneur, I’m also a big beauty enthusiast! I’ve tried and tested a ton of skincare products over the years. I usually switch up my daytime routine depending on the season and try to keep it pretty simple. My nighttime beauty routine is another story. It's a much more involved process, because why not get the most out of my beauty sleep? Keep reading to find out how I wake up glowing and feeling refreshed just by using a few key beauty essentials!
When I'm busy on shoots, I end up having a lot of makeup applied to my face over the course of the day. That's why the first step in my nighttime beauty routine is to thoroughly cleanse my skin. Sometimes face wash alone doesn’t cut it, so I’ve been using my Foreo Luna Mini. It’s a silicone cleansing brush that pulsates to get deep into pores. It’s said to remove 99.5% of dirt and oil, which enhances the absorption of your other skincare products. But let’s be real—if I’m really tired, I always have cotton and Bioderma Crealine on my nightstand to quickly and effectively remove my makeup.
I have to be very careful in the sun during summer. If my face is exposed without a hat and sunscreen for even five minutes, I start to develop hyperpigmentation on my forehead. My dermatologist recommends sunscreen all year around, but for my skin type she also suggests exfoliating 2–3 times a week. I recently became obsessed with Lancer’s Skin Polish. This unique polish includes fine minerals, as well as pumpkin and pomegranate enzymes to gently remove dull, dry surface cells while evening out my skin tone. It’s like an at-home microdermabrasion treatment. I immediately see a healthy glow after every use and love the calming lavender scent.
I love a gorgeous tan in the summer! Since I haven’t been able to squeeze in a vacation, I fake it with St. Tropez Gradual Tan in Shower. This product is genius! I love how easy it is to apply. There’s no mess, no chemical scent, and no streaks. Just apply in the shower and rinse off after a few minutes. After three days of use, I wake up with a healthy sun-kissed tan, sans beach. To match my face to my body I apply Wander Beauty’s On-the-Glow Bronzer and Illuminator to the high points of my face for a gorgeous glow.
I’ve tried and tested many moisturizers for both day and night, but I keep coming back to I Pekar. My facialist, Ildi Pekar, spent years developing her line of products. Beauty sleep is my favorite part of the routine. After being introduced to the luxury of Slip Silk pillowcases, I will never go back to cotton! My husband secretly sleeps on mine when I’m traveling. This is the final and most crucial step of my night time routine. The most important thing you can do for a fresh face is to get plenty of sleep. Our bodies work hard during the night to repair the damage of the day. My goal is to sleep around eight hours, but that doesn’t always happen with my busy work schedule and red eye flights. I love that silk pillowcases don’t absorb your beauty products like cotton. I wake up with less sleep lines and my hair stays smooth. I promise you will have the best sleep ever on silk!
