Kim Kardashian's Colorist On Her New 'Do
Kim Kardashian isn’t afraid of a bold beauty statement—just take a look at the just-released cover and editorial in CR Fashion Book’s next issue. Her unconventional style is exactly why we weren’t surprised when the reality star debuted newly blonde locks during summer’s (unofficial) final weekend of the summer—around the same time women are considering going a shade darker.
Kardashian’s colorist, George Papanikolas, told us: “She’s been wanting to go blonde for a while now and post-pregnancy was the prefect time for her.” The reality star’s dabbled in highlights before, but wanted a different feeling this time around. So Papanikolas gave her a blonde ombré base and chunky pale highlights, ignoring her dark roots. “The heavy roots give it an edge,” he says.
Are you itching for a change, too? Kardashian isn’t the only one who has made a drastic hair change this summer—everyone from Beyonce to Coco Rocha are opting for a new look. If you want to change the color of your locks, make sure to consider how you’ll keep you your hair healthy. Papanikolas suggests using Joico’s K-Pak Revitaluxe ($21), a deep conditioner packed with jojoba oil and aloe. “It really helps repair and bring back the moisture that gets lost in such a drastic change,” he says.
Kardashian’s been laying low since giving birth to baby North West in June, but with Kanye’s fashion comeback on the horizon, and a cute new kid to show off, we imagine she’ll be out and about in no time. After all, blondes do have more fun.
