Snail Essence Was Used to Create Kim Kardashian West's VMAs Hairstyle
Call it a bold statement, but we think it’s safe to say that Kim Kardashian West looked the best she’s ever looked last night at the MTV Video Music Awards. Her makeup was very natural and subtle, and her fresh, chic “wet” hairdo perhaps took a page from Beyoncé’s look circa the 2014 Grammys.
But while you may assume West’s hair was created with water and hair gel, there was a very unlikely ingredient used to create that glossy, fresh-out-of-the-shower look: snail essence. We can’t say we’re too surprised that the entrepreneur was down to use the ingredient, considering she’s tried vampire facials and fish pedicures, among other outside-the-box treatments.
To create the look, hairstylist Michael Silva channeled beach vibes: “I decided to keep her hair fresh and sexy, perfecting and enhancing her natural texture. A continuation of summery, beach beauty.” Want to try out the look yourself (snail essence and all)? Take a look at the breakdown below.

“Next, I sprayed Kenra Platinum Texturizing Mist ($22) throughout the hair, working it through with my hands to bring out Kim’s natural wave. I then used my Ghd Air Hairdryer ($199) with a diffuser attachment and dried hair thoroughly, making sure not to touch it too much.”
