Kendall Jenner on Her Biggest Beauty Insecurity: "I Felt Like Such an Outcast"

It's hard to imagine that one of the world's most famous It girls would be anything less than confident, but even Kendall Jenner isn't immune to body hang-ups—in fact, the model overcame a skin problem that left her feeling so self-conscious she couldn't even look people in the eye.

"I had such bad acne when I was younger," she reveals in a video on her website. "It completely ruined my self-esteem. I wouldn't even look at people when I talked to them. I felt like such an outcast; when I spoke, it was with my hand covering my face."

She goes on to say that with the help of a good dermatologist, Laser Genesis treatments, and just plain growing up, her skin eventually cleared up, but it took some support from family and friends to help her snap out of the self-conscious funk—and she still feels it sometimes. "What I want everyone to understand is that it's been a process: It wasn't anything that happened overnight. But slowly, I'm working towards not caring, and I'm just in so much of a better place about it all now that I'm older."

Since all of us fall subject to at least the occasional blemish and maybe not-so-occasional insecurities, it's all good to hear.

Lasers can do wonders for existing acne and acne scars—and you don't have to trek to the dermatologist's office to try a treatment. An at-home device like Tria's Acne Clearing Blue Light ($299) might be a worthy investment.
