How Kate Moss Gets Ready for Holiday Parties
Where Kate Moss goes, photographers (and the rest of the world’s eager eyes) follow. That’s why, when we had the rare opportunity to glimpse a more intimate, paparazzi-free side of Moss’ daily routine in an interview with Grazia, we just had to share. If you’ve ever wondered how a world-famous model preps herself for a big event, consider this your lucky day. “My beauty regime does change for Christmas parties,” Moss says. “I wear more metallic and always a little bit more shimmer around Christmas.” As for her go-to holiday party look, Moss keeps it simple. “I really like a red lip and glistening skin; it’s my fail-safe party beauty look,” she says. “It’s nice to have a neutral, glowing face and eyes, and then a stronger lip.” Her favorite red lipstick? The 001 shade from her collaboration with Rimmel London.
To keep her skin fresh and glowing in the colder temps, Moss switches to using face oils at night (“They make you feel like your skin has been restored!”) and calls on her go-to facialist, Nicholas Joss. “[Joss] does this facial massage for lympthic drainage using Sanctuary Spa Wonder Oil Serum,” Moss says. “It’s like getting a natural facelift.”
As for the skin on her body, Moss says a tan can cover up a multitude of sins. She reaches for St. Tropez products (she’s a brand ambassador). More specifically, she swears by the brand’s Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil ($50) and says it’s “perfect for parties and looks great on a night out.” To give her face some natural color, she uses St. Tropez’s Skin Illuminators ($23). “They can be used on the face and the body to highlight skin and give a radiant glow,” she says.
Like us, Moss is a sucker for costumes. “I love themes for parties,” she says. “Jamie [Hince]’s quite good at just going into his closet and coming out with an amazing outfit. I just like the whole process of dressing up, getting ready with the girls and seeing what everyone else has come up with.” Don’t we all?
If these hangover tricks aren’t doing it for you, there’s always ice water. We’re referring to Moss’ preferred method of looking awake...even when she isn’t. “If I wake up in the morning and look tired and puffy, I fill a sink with ice and cucumber and submerge my face,” Moss says. “It instantly tightens everything, making you feel and look instantly awake. I saw Joan Crawford do it in Mommy Dearest.”
