Kate Hudson Made Her First Red Carpet Appearance Since Shaving Her Head

Kaitlyn McLintock

A while back, we caught our first glimpse at Kate Hudson's unexpected and totally badass buzz cut, which she undertook for a role in an upcoming film, Sister. We were shocked by the photos since she's one of the last celebrities we would have ever guessed would join the buzz-cut club. (Other members include the likes of Katy Perry, Cara Delevingne, and Kristen Stewart).

But lo and behold, she shaved her head, and the proof was right there in front of our very eyes. Despite our love for her trademark golden blonde hair (you can't be the daughter of Goldie Hawn and not become famous for your similarly hued locks), we loved the new style. She looked edgy, confident, and, most important, happy.

She recently posed on the red carpet at the premiere for her newest movie, Marshall, with her cropped cut, wearing a silver dress and metallic makeup look that we loved. If you didn't believe it before, now you will. Buzz cuts suit any situation—including an A-list red carpet event. Keep scrolling to see Hudson's full look.

As you can see, Hudson's makeup artist Quinn Murphy complemented her silver asymmetrical gown with dewy skin, a pink glossy lip, and a silver metallic eye. We love the entire look, especially when paired with a super-chic cropped haircut. She looks poised, elegant, and just a little bit edgy, no?

Recently, Hudson opened up about her buzz cut to Entertainment Tonight, saying she "copied" the look from her son, Ryder. "Ryder had it way before; Ryder's been buzzing his head for a long time," she said. Apparently, though, he wasn't too happy about the matching looks at first. "Ryder's like, 'Mom, you're cramping my style,'" she said. "But when I did it, he was like, 'Oh my God, we actually ...' It was the first time he even could see that we looked, you know, that he looked like his mommy."

We don't know about you, but that's the cutest thing we've heard all day. It's also inspiring, making us want to go bold in beauty and take more risks than we have before. For now, we'll be reaching for Maybelline's silvery Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow in Too Cool ($6) to replicate her frosty eye look.
