This (Surprising) Celebrity Is the Latest to Join the Buzz-Cut Club
Ever since the year 2000, when Kate Hudson took on the role of Penny Lane in Almost Famous (which just so happens to be a character who continues to be a major source of '70s beauty inspiration for us), she's been loyal to her medium-length blond hair. It's kind of her calling card. After all, she is the daughter of the Goldie Hawn.
Sure, she's switched it up a few times—most notably for the 2017 Met Gala when she debuted an icy white blond—but she’s never done anything especially drastic. That is, until now. Thanks to a new and slightly mysterious role, Kate has completely changed her hair—like, in the most dramatic way possible—by cutting it all off and going back to her natural color. Yeah, we're as surprised as you are. It's totally unexpected, totally cool, and totally on trend. Keep scrolling to see Kate Hudson's new buzz cut!

Stunning, right? The new role is for a movie called Sister, which will be written and directed by the singer Sia. Although paparazzi beat her to the punch by sharing blurry photos of her hair transformation, Kate took to Instagram today to share her first official photo. The picture is taken from far away, and in a rather dark room, but it's clear to see that Kate looks amazing with a buzz cut. She captioned the photo "Freedom. Compliments of @siathisisacting #OurBeautifulDirector." It's unclear whether Sia herself actually shaved Kate's head (how cool would that be?), but nonetheless we're keeping our eyes peeled for more photos of Kate post-cut.
Kate joins the likes of Katy Perry, Cara Delevingne, and many other A-listers who have taken the big chop, and we love it. If you do too and they've inspired you to rock a shaved head à la Eleven from Stranger Things, then you should absolutely go for it (you badass, you). If you're still a tad hesitant, try the look out before taking the leap. Slick back your hair with a pomade like Ouai's Matte Pomade ($24) to get a feel for the final effect.
