This Is What Happens When Jessica Alba Does Your Makeup
At this point, we're fully under the assumption that Jessica Alba can literally do anything. As a mother, actress, street style star, and founder of one of the biggest lifestyle brands today, The Honest Company, it's obvious she's pretty much a superwoman. So, we weren't surprised when the launch of her must-have beauty collection spawned yet another skill to add to her résumé: pro makeup artist. We found her sitting down with It-girl blogger Marianna Hewitt to discuss the multihyphenate's new beauty line and personally re-create one of the brand's signature looks. Turns out Alba has some major makeup skills (no surprise).
For the perfect mauve eye, Alba used Honest's Eyeshadow Trio ($25) in Heather Mauve (Hourglass's Modernist Eyeshadow Palette ($58) in Exposure has similar violet-tinged shades). With a brush, Alba took the deep mauve color right to Hewitt's upper and lower lash lines to line the eyes. She then mixed the dusty mauve and deep plum colors and drew a little "V" in the outer corner of the eyelid to blend in the lined eye. Then, she dipped her pointer finger in the light champagne shade and pressed it into the center of Hewitt's lid for the perfect amount of sparkle. In order to avoid what she calls the "walk of shame" eyeliner look, she opts for a daytime smoky eye by applying Honest Beauty True Velvet Eyeliner Pencil ($16) in Truly Gold to the inner corner of the eye.
To bring the whole look together, don't forget Hewitt's preferred nude lip! We love Nars Sheer Lipstick ($27) in Sexual Healing for a soft, neutral lip with just a hint of sheen.
