What would riding shotgun with Aimee Song be like? Benjamin Ruiz, director of artistry for Laura Mercier Cosmetics, could tell you firsthand. Since being named Laura Mercier’s first digital influencer and brand ambassador earlier this year, Song has been under Ruiz’s tutelage, learning about the technique and makeup artistry behind the French beauty brand.

So one summer day, we decided to flip the script, and had Song show Ruiz the ropes on how to be Instagram-worthy in her hometown of L.A. As for her everyday beauty look (whether she’s selfie-ing or not), Song says she always wears highlighter, fills in her brows, and add a pop of color of her lips. “For highlighter, my favorite is the Laura Mercier Face Illuminating Powder in Addiction ($44). I use it above my eyebrows, on the tip of my nose, and at the highest point of cheeks to make me look refreshed. I fill in my brows with the Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil ($24) so that they frame the natural shape of my face,” Song says.
