Ideally, it takes somewhere between one and five minutes to turn your office look into a party-ready face. The best way to do that is with a go-to list of guaranteed tricks: the stay-put lipstick, your boldest mascara, a no-fuss dry shampoo. Given the number of festive occasions on your calendar this time of year, we thought we'd offer up a few of our favorites.
"I usually start the day with just a bit of concealer, so come evening my skin is tired and could use a boost. Giorgio Armani's Maestro Fusion Foundation ($62) evens everything out and leaves a glow in its wake."
"My hair is flat by 7 p.m., but Joico's Power Spray Fast-Dry Finishing Spray ($17) revives volume. A single spritz is all I need, then I'll run my fingers through my hair to make sure it's evenly distributed."
"I rarely wear eye makeup--blame it on my lack of coordination with a mascara wand--so instead I'll blend a few drops of Benefit's High Beam ($26) on the outer corners of my eyes."
"Nothing perks up a face like great lashes, so I make sure I have Chanel's Le Volume De Chanel Mascara ($30) on hand. It's expensive--especially the amount I use--but it's totally amazing."
"I have the tendency to develop a pink nose as the day goes on, so I camouflage it with a dab of Clinique's Redness Solutions Makeup SPF 15 ($27). It's lightweight, but gives serious coverage, and it never makes me break out."
"Lipstick Queen's Medieval Lipstick ($20) looks intense in the tube, but the color is sheer and makes your lips look like you've spent the day kissing someone, which is never a bad thing."
"Before leaving the office for a party I'll smudge Tarte's skinny smolderEYES Liner ($19) in Onyx on my top and bottom lash line."
"If I can only do one touch-up, it's definitely blush. Layering on Nars' Blush ($28) in Deep Throat makes me feel awake and polished!"
"Since I have fine hair, it can get slightly oily by the end of a work day, especially if I used product that morning. Thankfully, I always pack a travel size of Ojon's Full Detox Rub-Out Dry Cleansing Spray ($13) in my purse."
"On days when I give the lipstick a rest, I play up my eyes with a thin line of Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner ($20) in Black. To up the drama for evening, I just flick up the ends for a classic winged cat-eye."
"I often wear a bright lip to the office, but for night I can pull out the truly intense colors. For a major statement, my go-to is Make Up For Ever's Aqua Cream ($23) in Fuchsia 7."
"Nothing says 'I'm done with work and ready to go out' like a red lip! Nars' Velvet Matte Lip Pencils ($24) deliver a big punch and go on so easily. You don't need a brush or liner or anything other than the pencil itself."
