Reviewed: The $6 Shampoo That Brings My Dirty Hair Back to Life
As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know—tough life). “Reviewed” is a new series where we report on some of the best products we’ve tried. Whether it’s a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day, or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you’ll find all of our favorites in this column. Enjoy!
I wash my hair about once a week, sometimes going even longer (up to 12 days) between washes if a blowout was particularly amazing—which means that by the time I do wash my hair, it’s usually, well, pretty disgusting. Think: oily, itchy, and weighed down with unavoidable scalp residue.
Because it’s so dirty, I need a product that really cleanses, without stripping. Enter Herbal Essences’ new Wild Natural Detoxifying Shampoo ($6), aka my savior. I’m obsessed with the unique and refreshing Thai Lemon Basil scent, which smells, and feels, like a detox. I basically want to pour the entire bottle on my head, though the normal amount does the trick.
I’ve been a big fan of Herbal Essences’ Hello Hydration line for years, and even before that, as a 12-year-old, I was addicted to their rose-scented shampoo for dry and damaged hair (hey, I started heat-styling at an early age). But this latest revitalizing product tops them all.
It deeply and gently cleanses away impurities leaving my hair feeling fresh and residue-free, which never gets old (especially for $6), and which thankfully means I can keep extending my blowouts for as long as possible.
