7 Quirky (But Valuable) Beauty Secrets We've Learned from Gwyneth Paltrow
Happy birthday, Gwyneth Paltrow! Our high priestess of all things wellness is 44 years young today, and frankly, we’ve never been more beguiled by her wealth of delightfully alternative beauty secrets. Exhibit A: One of Paltrow’s hallmark accomplishments of 2016 is her Goop skincare range with Juice Beauty, which boasts formulas that are literally natural enough to eat.
But of course, she’s given us so much more than just edible moisturizer. We’ve detoxed like Gwyneth, battled hangovers like Gwyneth, and voluntarily put bee venom on our face like Gwyneth. If we’re constantly guinea-pigging ourselves per her advice, it’s probably because we could all stand to expand our beauty and wellness horizons. (And since she’s a huge proponent of all things natural, what do we have to lose?)
So we thought it only appropriate to count down some of our very favorite Paltrow-approved tips of all time. From her debloating secret to the post-drinking tip you need to try on Sunday morning, find them all below.
2. Start the day off on the right note by sticking to simple rituals.
For Paltrow, that means brushing her teeth, slathering on some moisturizer, knocking back a healthy smoothie, and getting her kids out the door to school.
4. Look to Eastern medicine—there's a lot to learn.
Paltrow often draws on the wisdom of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine—ancient healing schools that have relied on some of the same natural remedies for centuries upon centuries. In fact, she often uses an Ayurvedic detox when she’s in need of a reboot—and naturally, we had to test-drive the intense cleanse ourselves.
6. Use vitamin C as the ultimate de-bloating remedy.

Bee venom as a Botox alternative? Medicinal mushrooms? An ancient oil massage? Why not? It’s Paltrow’s fearlessness that has allowed her to track down some of the best remedies, techniques, and products out there—and we’re all the wiser for it.
