This Woman Found a $1 Dupe for Fenty's Trophy Wife Highlighter

Kaitlyn McLintock

Rihanna's Fenty makeup collection shook up the beauty industry because it's a brand based on representation, diversity, and inclusiveness. (It's likely you've heard by now that her foundation is available in 40 shades, with many of those being meant for deeper skin tones. Unfortunately, that's definitely not the norm for other products and brands.) So yes, we're fans of Rihanna, and we're fans of her Fenty Beauty line—for proof, watch our complete review of the Fenty products.

One of the standout products from the collection is the Freestyle Killawatt Highlighter in Trophy Wife ($34). It's a brilliant gold pigment that reflects light the color of a sunbeam. It's smooth, silky, and stunning—what's not to love? Nothing. Except now, you might be able to see similar results from $1 drugstore product. That's right. According to Allure, one woman's Instagram post is going viral thanks to the fact that she found a perfect dupe.

This aspiring makeup artist goes by the name @boujiebarb on Instagram. Here, she's pictured wearing an electric green eye shadow look with what appears to be Rihanna's standout Trophy Wife gold highlighter. Only it isn't. According to her, it's actually a loose powder pigment from a totally budget-friendly makeup line called L.A. Colors. If you're not familiar with this brand, think back to the drugstore, or even the dollar store, since that's where you've most likely seen the products before.

L.A. Colors

L.A. Colors Shimmering Loose Eyeshadow With Brush in Sunshine is currently unavailable online. (But between you and me, peruse eBay and you might find one or two.) Theses loose shadows are normally sold in the $1 section at places like Dollar Tree.

To style, simply do as @bougiebarbie does and swipe across the high points of your face, including the cheekbones, inner corners of the eyes, nose, and Cupid's bow. If her Instagram posts are any indication, it will provide a similar, almost 3D shimmering effect similar to that of Rihanna's high-end highlighter. The only downside is that you'll have to miss out on the chic honeycomb-shaped packaging from Fenty (those products are gorgeous).
