How the Strongest Female Athletes Really Feel About Their Bodies

by Erin Jahns

With inspirational phrases like "strong is now beautiful" and "strength is now confidence," some of America's most beautiful and athletic women are speaking out in this Cosmopolitan video about body confidence and the prescriptive cultural norms of "perfection" that they are proudly challenging. Proving that strong is indeed beautiful, the ladies (including Olympic gold medalist track and field star Natasha Hastings and UFC Bantamweight fighter Jessica Eye) are refreshingly candid regarding the body shaming they faced growing up, the insecurities that may still linger, and how they now accept their bodies as a part of what makes them uniquely them. We couldn't agree more that there is not one singularly "perfect body" and that beauty and strength come from self-love and self-care—not a cultural expectation. Well said, ladies. Well said.
