Exclusive: Elsa Hosk Tells Us How to Live Life Like a VS Angel
There's no typical day for a Victoria's Secret Angel. One day, you might be walking down the runway, adorned with a million-dollar bra, and the next you might be shooting the cover of a swimwear catalog on the beaches of Aruba. But for the days when the models aren't showing off their enviably toned physiques in front of the camera, we're dying to know what they do in their downtime to stay fit and flawless (as well as their behind-closed-doors habits that bridge the gap between them and us mere mortals).
Yesterday, at a launch for Victoria's Secret's new Crush Eau de Parfum ($52), we met up with Angel Elsa Hosk. Being in the presence of the stunning Swede was the perfect opportunity to dig deep and find out just what it is an Angel does when she's off duty. What we'd discover is that her routine is quite simple, actually—a healthy lifestyle, a few guilty pleasures, and unfortunately for us, just naturally good genes (duh). Kérastase Bain Force Architect ($40)
"I always wake up and try to have a good breakfast. I think it's the most important meal of the day, so I always eat a full meal like eggs, bacon, juice, coffee, and then that usually lasts me until lunch," Hosk tells us.
"Then I just hop in the shower and I don't really do much afterward. I use Kérastase products [for my hair]. Then I just put a moisturizer on. Sunscreen is key, too, especially in the summertime." As far as prepping her complexion, much to our envy, Hosk doesn't have the type of skin that warrants any special TLC. "I don't really do a lot of skin treatments. I do go to the dermatologist every now and then, though—I think it's important to get a routine check-up. Skin changes—it goes through phases."
In terms of daily tasks, Hosk's days off are incredibly relatable. "If I'm not working, I take care of everyday things. Kind of boring, but I'll do laundry, I clean my apartment—things like that. I catch up with friends, etc."
"For lunch, I eat something light. My favorite thing to eat is fattoush, which is a salad of tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers with feta on it. You can add grilled chicken if you're hungrier." While Hosk often eats healthy, she's a sucker for Tate's Chocolate Chip Cookies ($7) and, our personal favorite, pizza.
"After lunch, I always work out. I sort of rotate between boxing, Pilates, Equinox classes, Body by Simone, Flex Studios—I love so many different workouts." When asked if she's ever a rise-and-shine sort of fitness gal, she shakes her head: "Afternoon. Afternoon all the way."
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser ($11)
"For dinner, I usually have more protein with vegetables or potatoes or something like that. I may go watch a movie after dinner—very normal," says Hosk.
Unsurprisingly, her nighttime skincare regimen is as low-maintenance as the rest of her daily routine. "If I have a day off, I don't wear makeup. If I'm working, however, I wear a lot of makeup [laughs]. So I try to have a good routine of taking it off at night. I use a good cleanser like Cetaphil, and then I have a toner and a good moisturizer to let my skin breathe as much as I can. If I've had a crazy shoot week, I try to sleep in a hair mask. I think that's a pretty good tip. You can wrap the towel around your head, sleep with the towel on, and then wash it off in the morning, and your hair is like new. It's really nice."
