3 Unexpectedly Easy Spring Runway Beauty Looks To Try Now
Sophia Loren served as the inspiration for the soft and romantic makeup at Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s spring show. Luckily, it’s easy to pull off with the right textures and colors. We’d wear this look with our most feminine summer dresses.
The key to this one is the glowing skin: you want a radiant—but not quite dewy—finish. McGrath used Dolce & Gabbana’s Make Up Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation ($60) in one shade warmer than each models’ skin. Or, you can apply Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powder ($45) over your regular makeup for the same glow.
Apply a shimmery peach cheek color next—McGrath used a mixture of three hues—but you can use Nars’ Blush ($30) in Deep Throat for the same effect. Swirl it onto the apples of your cheeks.
The goal here is to create a wash of pale color on the eyes with a slight flick of liquid liner. To great a light catching effect, apply a shimmery, champagne-colored hue in the inner corners of your eyes, then draw a thin, turned up line on your top lashline with brown liquid liner. Curl lashes and apply black mascara.
For a pretty stain, press a rosy hue into your lips with your fingers, blot, then repeat. The goal is to create a stained effect. McGrath used a mixture of Dolce & Gabbana’s Classic Cream Lipstick ($33) in Bellissima and Traviata.
The buzzword backstage at Altuzarra’s spring runway show was purity. Makeup artist Tom Pecheux gave models a matte red pout and a pale wash of shadow. We’d wear this combination on a night out with the girls.
The trick to pulling off this look? Keep the skin matte. Dust your face with a shine-reducing powder to keep oil at bay after you’ve applied your regular foundation and concealer. We like Urban Decay’s De-Slick Mattifying Powder ($32).
Looking for something fun, but still utterly romantic? The smudged rose-colored shadow and radiant skin from Burberry Prorsum’s S/S 2014 runway is calling your name!
Just like the look at Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry Prorsum’s feminine look calls for glowing skin. Apply the same Hourglass finishing powder all over your face.
Makeup artist Wendy Rowe used a few different shades of pink for this look, creating an ombre effect. Apply the darkest shade around your lashline, then blend it out with a lighter hue. We like the colors in Buxom’s Color Choreography Eyeshadow ($36) in Lambada. Skip mascara, to keep the look modern, Rowe says.

To complement your rosy shadow, keep your lips a light shade of pink, applied straight from the tube. Rose used Burberry’s Lip Mist ($30) in Trench Kiss.
Hunting for a new spring beauty look? Look no further than the latest runway! While we admit that many beauty looks taken from the catwalk don’t translate to the real world—to wit: bleached brows, 10 sets of faux lashes—there are plenty that we couldn’t wait to wear when we first saw them in September. For example: the romantic rosy cheeks at Dolce & Gabbana, matte red lips at Altuzarra, and pink shadow at Burberry Prorsum. Here they are, broken down in detail.
