This Simple DIY Will Replace Your Expensive Oil Cleanser

Faith Xue

By now, we know how important it is to double cleanse. For the unschooled, double cleansing involves using an oil cleanser first to remove makeup and debris, and your normal cleanser after to ensure your skin is thoroughly clean. The problem is that adding another cleanser is just one more product to take into account in our already maxed-out skincare budget (that $100 face cream we splurged on last month still weighs heavily on our minds). Luckily, natural beauty guru and skincare brand founder Indie Lee can help. Ahead, you’ll find her recipe for a nourishing five-ingredient oil cleanser that will give your pricey pick a run for its money. Enjoy!

Indie Lee’s Jojoba and Avocado Oil Cleanser

Ingredients:

1/2 oz. organic jojoba oil
1/2 oz. organic avocado oil
2/3 oz. organic safflower oil
1/3 oz. organic castor oil
3 drops vitamin E
2-3 drops essential oil*

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a two-ounce container, and shake well.

Application:

Squeeze a pea-sized amount onto your hand or cleansing brush; massage into damp face to remove makeup and cleanse skin.

Storage:

Up to three months in a closed container.

*Ed. note: Make sure you school yourself on essential oils before adding them with abandon.

If you’d rather just buy your cleanser, you can try Indie Lee’s Brightening Cleanser ($32) or Tatcha’s Camellia Cleansing Oil ($48).
