Cult Classic: Egyptian Magic

What's so special about the cult cream? We found out.
Cult Classic: Egyptian Magic

A few moisturizers have earned the description "cult classic"— Elizabeth Arden’s Eight-Hour Cream ($20), Aquaphor's Healing Ointment ($5), Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion + ($25)—but none sounds as mysterious as Egyptian Magic.

The All Purpose Skin Cream ($38) is allegedly modeled after the salve used by pharaohs in Ancient Egypt. A blend of six-ingredients—olive oil, beeswax, bee propolis, bee pollen, royal jelly, and honey—it's the only product the company makes. Is it identical to whatever Cleopatra was using to moisturize her supposedly beautiful skin? Who knows, but the cream does have a large celebrity following today.

So what's it used for? Almost anything! Apply to your face post-cleansing for a rich night cream, use it to tame split ends, or heal dry cuticles. Try it on chapped lips, burns, rashes, and stretch marks or mix it with powder blush or bronzer to make a customized creamy formula. It's made without preservatives, chemicals, or parabens so it won’t irritate even the fussiest skin. Don’t let the balmy texture scare you, it melts into a creamy oil once it's in your hands. Not to be presumptuous, but we think Cleopatra would approve.
