Skip Contouring and Just Try Color Correcting Instead
We'll be the first to tell you that using color wheel theory is a really effective way of nixing under-eye circles—because peachy-orange tones neutralize blue, using peach-colored foundation or concealer is the best way to make your circles disappear. Simple, right?
But what if you applied this way of thinking to the rest of your face? Makeup junkies in the know might already use this method diligently, but just like how "contouring" is a now a household term, this style of face-sculpting is poised to hit the mainstream.
The Insta tutorial shown above might seem a little over-the-top, but it's actually easy to adopt color correcting into a more low-key routine. Got an angry-looking zit? Say goodbye to redness with some green cream or concealer (like Physicians Formula's Concealer Twins, $9). Cheeks looking sallow or yellow? Choose a purplish-tone foundation to liven things up. On the flip side, yellow cancels out purple-looking shadows, while, as mentioned, orange nixes blue.
Our final tip: Maybe use this method a little sparingly, and color-correct as needed rather than on a full-faced, daily basis. We can't be the only ones exhausted by the extreme foundation trends, right?
