3-Minute Read: The Beauty Products a Dermatologist Would Buy at the Drugstore
Welcome to 3-Minute Read, your midweek rundown of everything we're talking about at Byrdie HQ. Every Wednesday, we'll get you up-to-date on the beauty news you need to know—in only three minutes.
1. "I want it to be a normal thing to be able to see Asian models."
We can always rely on Chrissy Teigen to tell it like it is—it's one of the things we love about her most. ICYMI: In a recent interview, the model spoke out about the disappointing lack of diversity in her industry. (Teigen has Thai, German, and Norwegian roots.) "I think it’s really important to start embracing people… seeing them in roles that are not necessarily 'that Asian girl' or 'that Asian boy,'" she said. "I think Asian models are really underrepresented in the industry, especially on the runways or in magazines. I personally am not offended by cultural appropriation of any sort because I feel like it does pay homage, but at the same time there are a lot of beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Asian women that could do the same thing." You said it, sister. Check out the full story here.
2. This is what a dermatologist would buy at the drugstore.
3. Move over, meditation.
Have you tried breathwork yet? It's the buzziest new healing modale that promises to decrease stress and boost focus, all in a matter of seconds.
4. This hair accessory collaboration is almost too pretty.
Celeb stylist extraordinaire Adir Abergel—who works with everyone from Kristen Stewart to Reese Witherspoon—has teamed up with NYC hair accessory boutique Lelet for a collection of truly spectacular barrettes and headbands. Minimalistic and abstract in design, these gorgeous pieces are a surefire way to elevate any 'do to high-fashion status.
5. And speaking of exciting new launches…
Chanel is releasing its first fragrance in 15 years, which is pretty major. "Gabrielle"—so titled for designer Coco's given name—is described as an "abstract floral," and it will make its grand debut this coming June.
