Fitness in today’s world is pretty overwhelming. And though it’s great to have options (yoga, cycle, barre, boot camp, oh my!), sometimes intimidation sets in and we feel defeated before we’ve even begun—which can turn into a vicious cycle. So, when we hear super-awesome (and doable!) fitness tips and tricks from some of our favorite celebs and models, we’re all ears—and more than eager to share. From Beyoncé to Julianne Hough, here are the tips that super-fit celebs swear by—keep scrolling for our favorites!
Who: Molly Sims
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves: The only way to truly adopt a workout routine is to follow Sims’s fitness advice and treat an early morning (or anytime) workout like a job. Whether that means booking a bike in advance, creating accountability with a friend, or setting a daily alarm, approaching fitness as a priority (not an option) is the key to ultimate success.
Who: Lily Aldridge
There are few things worse than working out with either a) no music or b) terrible music. Make like one of our favorite VS Angels, Lily Aldridge, and take a couple of minutes to create a playlist with all of your favorite tunes that will power you through even the toughest of workouts. Aldridge’s music recommendations? The Rolling Stones or Alt-J.
Who: Jasmine Tookes
Gym memberships aren’t cheap, and clubs themselves aren’t always easily accessible. And who better to know than the gorgeous Jasmine Tookes, whose modeling gigs take her around the world and back in two days’ time. Pit stops at the gym can be virtually impossible—for Tookes and for the rest of us (who may not be world-famous supermodels but are still insanely busy). The fix? Simple: the Internet. Follow Tookes’s fitness lead and google the kind of workout you want to do. The options are endless (hello, YouTube), and you’re guaranteed to find something you love.

Have you ever noticed how on the Monday after an epic shopping trip, it’s a little easier to get out of bed in the morning? Picturing yourself in those killer new jeans somehow makes your days a little more bearable—and the same applies to killer workout garb. We agree with our contributor Lindsay Ellingson that planning what you’ll wear to the gym ahead of time (and being excited about your gear) will make the thought of demolishing that treadmill at least a little more enticing… maybe.
Who: Julianne Hough
If anyone knows how to maintain a healthy balance amid a busy lifestyle, it’s the always-active Julianne Hough. Our days can get incredibly hectic, and though we would like to think that making a separate trip to the gym is always non-negotiable and well worth the extra time, sometimes there just aren’t enough hours. Therefore, we have serious appreciation for Hough’s fitness tip to incorporate super-effective moves into everyday activities. Some ideas? Try doing squats or lunges while brushing your teeth, or leg lifts at your desk or while applying your makeup.
Who: Michelle Monaghan
Consistency with exercise (as with most things in life) is key. Theoretically, it may be easy to adopt a super-challenging workout regimen (it always sounds so appealing), but if it’s not maintainable, it simply won’t be effective in the long run. That’s why we love Monaghan’s fitness philosophy of dedicating 30 minutes every day to some sort of physical activity. Walking your pooch with a family member, taking a hike with a friend, or going for a midday stroll with a co-worker are all great (and maintainable) options.
Interval training is hot for a reason. Not only is it an incredibly time-efficient approach to exercise (most sessions are a maximum of 30 to 45 minutes), but also, routines focus on strengthening multiple muscle groups simultaneously—a surefire way to burn fat, torch calories, and seriously sculpt. Beyoncé is a self-proclaimed fan of the time-saving approach, which works out numerous muscle groups by combining short bouts of cardio with intense sets of strengthening.
