The Celebrity Guide to Flawless Skin
Stars: They’re not estheticians, but they certainly are savvy in the realm of skincare. We’re in awe of the flawless complexions of Hollywood’s elite, and we’re willing to take a chance on any item that sounds promising enough to help us achieve their healthy glow. Thankfully, through the years, celebs like Selena Gomez and Olivia Palermo have offered up some wise tips regarding their daily regimens and the products they swear by. Read on to see how our favorite ladies keep a healthy complexion, and shop their beauty essentials.
Jessica Alba: “Finding a formula that isn’t too drying is the key. Mine is a lotion called Resurface Retinol Reform ($95)—my facialist makes it, and she ships it all over the world,” Alba told Cosmopolitan. “It's the best because it doesn't overly dry your skin, which is usually the case with retinol.”
Joan Smalls: “Moisturize a lot. During the morning, I tend to mix Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair ($62) with Estée Lauder Resilience Lift Firming/Sculpting Face and Neck Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 15 ($74). I do that throughout the day and it really, really helps,” Smalls told Elle.
Julianne Hough: “If I feel a big pimple coming on, I like to get a really cold washcloth, or even an ice cube, and kind of massage the area a little bit,” Hough told us. “I feel like that takes the swelling down at least. I don't want to pop it because then it will be too hard to cover with makeup the next day.”
Olivia Palermo: “I don’t switch around my skincare. I’ve got a very simple routine. I use all the products from my dermatologist, Dr. Dennis Gross, because they’re great,” Palermo told Marie Claire. “SK-II also does fantastic moisturisers—I think I might have used all of them. You know what’s especially great if you travel a lot? The SK-II Facial Treatment Mask. You look like a mummy with them on, but it’s so hydrating.”

Anja Rubik: “I try to do a moisturizing mask a few times a week—I like the one by Nuxe. If my skin feels really dry, I use coconut oil on my face and on my body,” the model told us. I also have a cream that I picked up in the farmers’ market that is made from bee pollen. It’s quite gross when you apply it, because it has a really specific smell. The next day, your skin is incredible though!”
Selena Gomez: “I like to have a good morning regimen. I use my Clarisonic in the shower with the Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Skin Renewing Peel Wash ($25). I do that maybe four or five times a week, so my skin has a chance to breathe before all the madness starts,” Gomez told Into the Gloss. "Dr. Dennis Gross Clinical Concentrate Radiance Booster ($68) on your cheekbones and around your eyes helps make you look alive.”
