3 Weird Cat-Eye Hacks That Actually Work
There’s no debating the fact that a cat-eye looks super cool, but perfecting the application can be all sorts of stressful. From shaky hands to crumbling products, there are a whole lot of things that can create a less-than-perfect line. Keep scrolling for a few little-known hacks that can help you create the perfect cat-eye.
Clench Your Toes
That’s right: Something as simple (and odd) as tensing up your feet helped one of our editors learn how to create the perfect cat-eye with Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black ($16).
One day, your eyeliner works like a charm, and the next, it isn't applying, no matter how hard you push. You aren’t losing your mind. The temperature we store our makeup at is actually super important. If you find your liner is breaking apart and is on the dry side, try freezing it. If you have the opposite problem where it simply won’t slide on but is smooth and solid to the touch, heat the tip of the liner pencil with a lighter near (but not touching) the flame.
Stick to the Flick
Start small. After you apply your mascara, create one flick on the outside corners of your eyes from the top down. This will help you connect with your lash line on the same spot on both eyes. Once you get comfortable with the flick, you can start testing out bolder looks. We like using Yves Saint Laurent Eyeliner Effet Faux Cils in Shocking ($34).
