The Silicone-Free Primer That Works Magic on Combination Skin

by Tiffany Huynh

I love all things Charlotte Tilbury, but especially her Magic Cream ($100) and Wonderglow Primer($55). If it were possible, I would buy a gallon of both. Okay, maybe that's a little excessive, but they are truly amazing products. However, the hefty price tag was burning a hole through my wallet, and as a college student, I started to tire of eating cereal for every meal to make up for it. Thus, I was on the hunt to find a less expensive version of each, until I stumbled upon Too Faced's Hangover Replenishing Face Primer ($32) on the site of one of my favorite beauty bloggers, Amelia Liana, who happened to be in the same predicament I was.

When I heard that this product was like a moisturizer and primer in one, I was sold. First off, it smells amazing. It’s infused with coconut water, and the coconut scent is not too strong, just enough to actually enjoy putting on. The coconut water hydrates and brightens my skin, leaving it soft and smooth. The formula is thin and creamy, and when applied to my skin, it at first feels a bit sticky but quickly dissipates when it sets, leaving behind an utterly dewy finish. Best of all, it is silicone-free, like Charlotte Tilbury’s products. I have acne-prone combination skin, so I am against silicone in makeup products, as it has been found to trap in dirt and bacteria. Although I did have to touch up around my T-zone due to slight oiliness later on, the primer still noticeably leaves my skin looking healthier and more radiant. I recommend this product to anyone who has dry, acne-prone, or combination skin and is looking for extra hydration in their makeup routine.
